Peter Wong, 72, died on August 31, 2019 in Seattle, WA, after a protracted illness.
Born in Olympia, WA, in 1947, Peter showed early aptitude for puzzle solving. He was a computer engineer for 46 years, devoting his life to the study of technology and how things fit together. An enthusiast of the sciences as a child, he went on to receive a B.S. in computer programming from Stanford University in 1969 before returning to Washington and applying himself to computer engineering, which became his life's work at ABC Inc.
Peter married his first wife, Julie Parker, in 1973, and although the union was not permanent, they made a strong co-parenting team for their exceptional children in Seattle, WA. In 1984, Peter was promoted to DEF Title, and it was at that department that he met Beulah Green, to whom he was married for 35 years.
Peter is survived by his wife, Beulah; his children, Jared Wong and Peter Wong, Jr., of Seattle, WA; his stepchildren, Kristen Smith, Carrie Green, and David Green of Tacoma, WA; and his many friends and colleagues. He is predeceased by his parents, Xiao Yu Wong and Janice Wong of Olympia, WA.
A viewing is open to the public on September 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the First Episcopal Church at 123 Main St. Private funeral services will be held. Donations can be made in Peter's name to the GHI Charity.
