Christina Jane Madsen-Laramie died peacefully in her Boise, ID, home on August 31, 2019, at the age of 56 after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Canada, Christina was adopted at three months and raised in Houston, TX. A great lover of the unknown, she traveled all over the world, first with her parents to England and Scotland, then with her siblings to Thailand and Brazil, and then with her wife to Israel, Guatemala, Guyana, Hungary and Turkey. Never a fan of detailed itineraries, she was known to take only a backpack and a sense of adventure on her many travels.
Christina was a journalist, blogger and travelogue author. Her 1991 book, Where the Wind Takes Us, was a hit with low-footprint travel enthusiasts. Her many articles were published in ABC, DEF, GHI and XYZ over the course of 30 years. She married Hannah Madsen-Laramie in 2011, and the couple had one daughter together.
Christina is survived by her wife, Hannah Madsen-Laramie of Boise, ID; her daughter, Victoria Madsen-Laramie of Boise, ID; her mother, Linda Laramie of Houston, TX; her brother, Klaus Laramie of Lincoln, NE; and her sister, Jade Lexington of Houston, TX. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Laramie.
Private services will be held. Flowers and cards can be sent to 123 Main St. Boise, ID.
