It is with great sadness that her loving family shares that Janelle Carter died Nov. 20, 2022 in Anytown, Calif., after an illness.
Throughout her 23-year career as a nurse, Janelle put others first. When the Coronavirus pandemic hit, she threw her heart and soul into her work. Even after contracting the virus herself, she returned to Anytown Hospital to serve others.
After several months of fatigue and other ongoing symptoms, Janelle was diagnosed with Long Covid. We may never know what ultimately took her life just before Thanksgiving, but she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Janelle was born on June 5, 1976 and raised in Othertown, Calif. She attended Othertown Community College before transferring to Anytown State University for nursing school. She graduated near the top of her class. During her career, she worked in private practice as well as in urgent care and hospital settings. Janelle preferred serving a diverse range of populations rather than settling into one role. She also volunteered at the Anytown Drop-in Clinic. She mentioned several times over the years that she would have been a travel nurse had it not been for her beloved dogs, Rowdy and Roscoe.
In her limited free time, Janelle enjoyed knitting, baking, and reading. Cozy mysteries were her favorite, and she always said medical thrillers were the least realistic of all fiction genres.
Rowdy and Roscoe are being cared for by Janelle’s sister, Cherie Patterson. Janelle is also survived by her parents, Kurt and Candy Carter, and nephews Jack and Hunter.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Anytown Drop-in Clinic.
