Jerald "Jerry" Simington, the best grandfather in the world, died too soon on Jan. 3, 2021 of Covid-19. He was 63.
Jerry was born Oct. 10, 1957, in Yuma, AZ. He was a proud dad of two and an extremely proud granddad of five. He leaves behind his wife, Corina, along with his daughters Jennifer and Jasmine. His "grandweasels," as he lovingly called them, range in age from 2 to 10.
After graduating from Yuma Union High School ("Fight, Criminals, Fight!"), Jerry worked in sales for two years before deciding to attend college. It was a fortuitous choice, as he met Corina his very first day at University of Arizona. They married in 1980, eloping to Las Vegas the weekend after graduation. Jerry and Corina both taught at Anytown High School for their entire careers.
Jerry attended spring training each year, rooting for the San Diego Padres until the Diamondbacks formed in 1998. He and Corina were season ticketholders, and their 30th anniversary kiss was shown on the Jumbotron to massive applause.
Corina continues to suffer from the effects of Covid. To lift her spirits, friends and family are invited to a special outdoor dinner at the home of their daughter, Jenny. Masks are required for any unvaccinated guests. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the long-haul Covid cause of your choice.
