Dear {child},

I am so proud of how you've handled the death of {deceased relative}. You are empathetic, resilient, and brave.

I want to make sure you know that you never need to hide your feelings from me or {other surviving relative}. We are here for you any time you want to talk about your emotions, share memories of {deceased relative}, or just cry together.

Remember, too, that is not your job to worry about {family finances/long-term planning/etc}. That is a grown-up job, and I promise you that you are safe and secure and we will get through this as a family.
