Letter of Recommendation

   Naturalist Outdoors Obituary

Natalia Moon died Sept. 18, 2022 at age 44 in Anytown, Calif.

Natalia was born August 15, 1978 at her parents’ home alongside a creek in the mountains outside of Anytown. She loved nature from the start, and as a baby was always happiest when she had her toes in the grass. Natalia enjoyed hiking, dogs, the Klamath River, honest people, conservation, and voting. She especially loved sunrises and sunsets, in that order. When she was 12, she asked to legally change her last name to Moon, and her parents readily agreed.

Natalia Moon, a graduate of Cal Poly Humboldt, taught at Anytown Elementary School for most of her career, ending with her secret favorite: fifth grade. Each year, her students looked forward to the “river trip” that capped off the ecosystems unit.

On weekends, when not hiking or otherwise adventuring, Natalia volunteered at the Anytown Nature Center, and was the only person that the resident owl, Mr. Hoots, would tolerate in his cage.

She is survived by her parents, Cecil and Jean Cleary.

A sunrise service will be held Oct. 12 to remember Natalia Moon at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Anytown. Trees to plant will be given to each attendee. In lieu of cut flowers, live plants or donations to the Nature Center will be welcomed. The latter will go toward the construction of a new enclosure for rescued raptors who cannot safely be returned to the wild.
